New Nursery 2
Well, we started the new nursery today and she seemed to love it! Very happy when I collected her, although very messy! She had a walk down to the lake, had cornflake play, singing and also clingfilm painting – as well as naps & food, the people who work there must be exhausted at the end of the day!
New Nursery
Well, the place has come through at the new nursery and after lots of discussions about whether it was right to move her now she is settled, we decided to take it and today was her last day at the old nursery. The new one is fab as it is set in over 100 acres of woodland and parkland and the whole ethos of the place is to be outside and learning from nature wherever possible. The old nursery was lovely, but it was one small room and inner city so didn’t have the benefits this one has. It was really sad leaving though, they made her a card which was lovely.
Bad day!
We had a bad day today! After weeks of really blossoming and becoming a very happy, smiley baby who laughs a lot, over the past week Imogen has become much more clingy, getting upset and whining at the least little thing. Especially after the hairy McClairy story each night when she cries when I put him away!
This morning I had an important meeting at 9.00 so was determined to leave on time for once – which is always where it starts to go wrong! Imogen was tired and so everything went a little slower and was more of a trauma. I then checked her nappy about 4 times as the morning present for mummy hadn’t materialised and, sure enough, it came just as we got into the car, so it was back to the changing table!
Then after throwing her dummy away several times and then crying for it so I had to keep grappling behind my seat to try to find it at traffic lights, she eventually napped five minutes away from nursery so was upset when she had to wake again.
Then for the first time ever she cried inconsolably when I tried to leave her at nursery and was trying to climb up my legs. All the frustration at being late then turned into massive guilt – she is still so small and the world is so big for her and sometimes I think I forget that as she adapts so well 99% of the time.
She did calm down and as soon as she saw her favourite toys she was happy again, I think it was just tiredness! Bizarrely, her favourite toy at nursery, by the way, are two hair curlers that fit inside each other – she is obsessed by putting things in other things or lids on containers – she loves shape sorters and is incredibly good at them!
Big Girls Seat
We now have a front facing car seat – I can’t believe how excited we have been about that, it used to be parties or concerts that we looked forward to! We spent ages researching on the internet and deciding which one we wanted – the lovely swivel seat to make getting in and out easier. What we didn’t research was what cares it fitted and then found out that basically the second car we just bought as a run around only takes about 2 seats, not including the one we wanted!
Anyway, it’s in now and she loves it. It makes her look tiny and she sits with her legs crossed, watching everything go past the window with awe laughing with us – I haven’t laughed so much for years as we do now with Imogen. The harness makes it look like she’s in a high speed rollercoaster but it’s very sweet!
Hurrah! At last we’ve been able to buy proper shoes for Imogen! Since she has been standing and also learning to sit again we have been trying to get her some shoes. We’ve been to Clarks about 5 times over about 6 weeks, but whilst one foot was OK, the other was too small and refused to grow! She seems to have the smallest feet out of most of the babies we know. The ironic thing is I have size 10, the complete opposite!
The other ironic thing is, now she has them she hates them and cries every time we try to get her to wear them!
