Now I have progressed to three meals and several cubes, mixing whatever comes to hand first!
The next phase is to do meals, I think! She is almost 6 months and so a whole new world of opportunity presents itself. I have ordered lots of ingredients including chicken and fish online and am starting to make meal ice cubes as opposed to single veggies. I have found loads of great recipes in well known books but have already started to improvise, especially where quantities of ingredients are concerned!
The problem is everyone says just give her what you have, but I must admit I’m a lazy cook and use jars of sauces for everything. Although, seeing as we both get home at 19:30 at the earliest, I have felt justified! Also, they spend a lot of time and effort developing the right sauce, so I’m sure I couldn’t do it better.
My idea of scratch cooking has always been to chop up an union to add to a sauce! I can’t do that now as they’re too full of additives etc, so have to make my own sauce - but need to even look up how to make a tomato pasta sauce! It makes me a bit ashamed to say so, but at least I am embracing learning to cook to make sure that Imogen has better food than we do! Just hope I can get into the habit before I go back to work so it continues.
Any top tips welcomed!
